The Nigeria Police Force in Jigawa State has arrested a man accused of setting his 60-year-old father on fire, leading to the victim’s death.
Police authorities said the suspect allegedly committed the act following a domestic dispute at their residence. According to preliminary investigations, the man reportedly poured a flammable substance on his father and set him ablaze.
The victim was said to have suffered severe burns before being rushed to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Police spokesperson in the state confirmed the arrest, noting that the suspect is currently in custody while investigations continue.
Authorities added that the case will be transferred to the appropriate department for further investigation and prosecution.
