The Jigawa State and Local Government Contributory Pension Board has released a total of ₦1.5 billion in payments to 569 retirees, reaffirming the state’s strong commitment to the welfare of its senior citizens.

The disbursement was announced during a ceremony at the Pension House in Dutse, where the State Head of Civil Service, Alhaji Muhammad K. Dagaceri, described Jigawa’s pension system as one of the best in the country. He proudly noted that over 20 states have visited Jigawa to learn from its model pension scheme.

Dagaceri credited Governor Umar A. Namadi for his unwavering support in strengthening the scheme, saying:

“Governor Namadi’s efforts are improving the lives of retirees and bringing lasting reforms to our civil service.”

In his own remarks, the Executive Secretary of the Pension Board, Dr. Binyaminu Shitu Aminu, broke down the payments, revealing that:

₦875.6 million will go to 287 retirees from state service

₦355 million to 158 retirees from local government

₦274.8 million to 124 retirees from Local Education Authorities (LEAs)

The payments cover retirement benefits, death benefits, and pension balances, providing full financial support to the beneficiaries.

Dr. Aminu emphasized that monthly pensions will continue to be paid in the first week of every month, maintaining the board’s promise of timely disbursements.

The state government is calling on all retirees and public servants to continue praying for the success of the administration, as efforts to improve worker welfare remain a top priority.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
