JIGAWA, BAUCHI RECEIVE $4M BOOST FOR SOLAR MINI-GRID PROJECTS

Jigawa and Bauchi states are set to benefit from a $4 million investment in solar mini-grid projects, aimed at expanding access to reliable electricity in underserved communities and supporting economic activities in the two states.

The investment is expected to provide cleaner and more dependable power to communities that remain poorly served by conventional electricity infrastructure. Solar mini-grids can supply electricity to homes, businesses, schools and other essential facilities without relying entirely on the national grid.

The initiative is also expected to contribute to local economic development by giving small businesses and entrepreneurs access to more stable electricity. Improved power supply could help reduce dependence on petrol and diesel generators, thereby lowering operating costs for businesses and households.

For communities in Jigawa and Bauchi, the projects could also improve access to essential services that require electricity, including healthcare, education, water supply and digital services. Reliable electricity is particularly important in rural areas where connection to the national grid remains limited or unreliable.
