JIGAWA ADC CHIEFTAIN WARNS OF PDP THREAT AHEAD OF 2027 GENERAL ELECTIONS AMID ESCALATING PARTY CRISIS
Internal reconciliation failures and unresolved candidate selection disputes risk undermining African Democratic Congress structures in Jigawa State as rival opposition forces position themselves to capitalize on divisions
A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Jigawa State, Nasiru Laraba, has warned that persistent unresolved internal disputes within the party could render the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) a major threat to the ADC's electoral prospects in 2027.
Speaking on the political friction following the party's recent primary processes, Laraba expressed deep concern over the failure of leadership to reconcile key stakeholders and founding members who feel sidelined by recent structural changes and candidate substitutions.
Specifically pointing to the fallout from the governorship primary, Laraba noted that founding figures like Adamu Jumbo, who were instrumental in establishing the ADC's political footprint in Jigawa State, have been largely abandoned along with their supporters after losing to defecting heavyweights.
He emphasized that while aggrieved stakeholders have remained peaceful and refrain from seeking court injunctions or defecting, their growing dissatisfaction and the ongoing confusion surrounding multiple deputy governorship slots continue to weaken the party at the grassroots level.
Laraba warned that the PDP is actively monitoring the ADC’s internal strife and will exploit these fractured structures during the upcoming campaign cycle if state and national executives fail to execute immediate reconciliation.
Urging the leadership of the African Democratic Congress to intervene without delay, he maintained that total unity remains the sole path to sustaining opposition momentum and challenging rival parties effectively in Jigawa State ahead of 2027.
