JAMB INTRODUCES PROCEDURE FOR CHANGING LOST SIM, EMAIL DETAILS
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has introduced a new procedure for candidates who have lost access to the phone numbers or email addresses registered on their JAMB profiles. The examination body announced the development on Wednesday, explaining that affected candidates can now update their details after completing specific requirements. The move is expected to assist candidates who have been unable to receive result notifications or access their profiles because they no longer have their registered SIM cards or email accounts.
JAMB said candidates seeking the service must first obtain a court affidavit from a High Court to support their request for a SIM swap or email change. After securing the affidavit, the candidate is required to log into the JAMB e-Facility portal and select the “Penalties” option from the available menu. The candidate should then choose “SIM Swap/Email Change Penalty Payment” and pay the prescribed fee through the portal before proceeding with the remaining stages of the process.
After payment, candidates are required to visit a designated JAMB office, specifically an approved JAMB PTC or PRC Centre, to complete the verification process. At the centre, the candidate will be asked to provide their JAMB profile code and existing GSM number. The board said biometric verification will also be conducted to confirm the identity of the applicant before the request can be processed.
Candidates must also submit a scanned copy of the court affidavit as part of the documentation required for the service. JAMB said the affidavit would be uploaded during the process, while the other verification requirements must be completed at the designated centre. The procedure is intended specifically for candidates with genuine cases involving loss of access to their registered GSM numbers or email addresses and is not presented as a general option for changing personal details without a valid reason.
The examination board further stated that the service can only be accessed once by an eligible candidate, advising applicants to ensure that the new information they provide is correct before completing the process. JAMB said the development followed complaints from candidates who had been unable to change their registered contact details, particularly those who lost their SIM cards or email access. The new procedure is expected to provide a formal route for such candidates to regain access to their JAMB profiles and receive important examination and admission-related information.
