JAMB CONFIRMS CAPS OUTAGE, CITES HOSTING TECHNICAL GLITCHES
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has confirmed that its Central Admissions Processing System is temporarily unavailable following reports from candidates who experienced difficulties accessing the platform for about a day.
JAMB attributed the disruption to technical challenges linked to the hosting arrangements for the platform.
In a statement on Thursday, the Board said it had begun discussions with the hosting organisation and was working to restore CAPS to full functionality.
The Board acknowledged the importance of the platform, particularly during the ongoing admission exercise, and apologised for the inconvenience caused by the outage.
The announcement followed complaints from candidates on social media, particularly on X, who reported difficulties accessing the system since Wednesday.
Some candidates said CAPS failed to load, while others reported being redirected or receiving messages indicating that the platform was unavailable.
Several candidates also tagged JAMB’s official X account to seek clarification and a resolution to the problem.
Some said they needed access to the platform to check their admission status or accept admission offers.
CAPS is JAMB’s platform for processing admissions and enables candidates to view admission offers and carry out related processes, including accepting or rejecting offers.
The disruption comes at a critical period of the 2026 admission exercise, with candidates relying on the platform to monitor their admission status and complete required admission procedures.
Candidates have previously experienced technical difficulties with CAPS during periods of heavy admission activity, including slow loading and problems displaying some information.
However, JAMB did not provide a specific timeline for the restoration of the platform in its latest statement.
The Board assured candidates, institutions and other users that efforts were ongoing to resolve the issue.
JAMB also said it would provide further updates as developments unfold.
