‘IT’LL BE EMBARRASSING’ – EX-UNITED STAR WARNS CLUB AS SPURS TRY TO HIJACK MBEUMO DEAL”
Former Manchester United defender Paul Parker has issued a strong warning to his old club, saying it would be “very embarrassing” if they fail to sign Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo this summer.
Mbeumo has reportedly expressed a strong desire to join Manchester United, and the club has been seen as the clear frontrunner to land the talented forward. But now, Tottenham Hotspur are stepping into the race — and they might just derail United’s plans.
Spurs manager Thomas Frank, who previously coached Mbeumo at Brentford, is said to be interested in reuniting with the 25-year-old at Tottenham. This unexpected twist has sparked concern that United could miss out on a player who not only wants to come but also had a standout season.
Speaking to Gameshub (via Daily Mirror), Parker didn’t hold back:
“It’ll be very embarrassing for Manchester United if they can’t get the deal for Bryan Mbeumo over the line. If they don’t get him, it’ll be down to the club failing to get the deal done, rather than Mbeumo not wanting to go to Old Trafford.”
Mbeumo was one of Brentford’s top performers last season, scoring 20 goals and providing 9 assists in 42 matches across all competitions. With numbers like that, it’s no surprise top Premier League clubs are circling.
For United, failing to secure Mbeumo could add to the growing frustration among fans who are eager to see the club act decisively in the transfer market. With Tottenham now firmly in the mix, the pressure is on Old Trafford to get this one over the line — or risk another high-profile miss.
