IRAN DELEGATION HEADS TO ISLAMABAD FOR PAKISTAN-BROKERED US TALKS
An Iranian delegation is set to arrive in Islamabad ahead of high-level talks with the United States, as diplomatic efforts intensify to address the ongoing Middle East conflict.
According to Iran’s envoy, Reza Amiri Moghadam, the delegation will participate in “serious talks” facilitated by Shehbaz Sharif. He noted that discussions would be based on a 10-point proposal put forward by Iran, despite skepticism over repeated ceasefire violations involving Israel.
Pakistan has been preparing to host the negotiations, with the White House confirming that JD Vance will lead the American delegation during the talks scheduled for the weekend.
In anticipation of the high-stakes meeting, authorities in Islamabad have declared local holidays, a move often linked to heightened security arrangements during major diplomatic engagements. Essential services, including healthcare, police, and utilities, are expected to remain operational.
The talks represent a significant diplomatic effort to de-escalate tensions in the region, with Pakistan positioning itself as a mediator between the United States and Iran amid the ongoing conflict
