IRAN ACCUSES US OF VIOLATING CEASEFIRE OVER PAST 48 HOURS
Iran has accused the United States of breaching a fragile ceasefire agreement in the southern coastal province of Hormozgan over the last 48 hours.
The allegation was made on Tuesday by Iran’s foreign ministry, following reports of renewed military activity involving both countries in the Gulf region.
According to the ministry, the United States carried out actions in Hormozgan that constituted a “gross violation” of the ceasefire, which has been in place as diplomatic efforts continue to end the conflict between the two nations.
The accusation came after the United States Central Command announced that its forces had attacked missile sites and boats in southern Iran that were allegedly attempting to lay mines in the Gulf.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed it had fired at US aircraft attempting to enter Iranian airspace.
In its statement, the Iranian foreign ministry warned that Tehran would not leave any hostile action unanswered and would continue to defend the country’s interests and security.
The latest development comes as a senior Iranian delegation is in Qatar for talks aimed at advancing a diplomatic process to end the conflict between Iran and the United States.
The war between the two countries reportedly began on February 28, with ongoing negotiations focused on achieving a lasting settlement despite continued tensions on the ground.
