INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY AS MISSING LAGOS OKADA RIDER FOUND DISMEMBERED IN OGUN STATE
The Lagos State Police Command has launched a comprehensive investigation into the brutal killing of a commercial motorcyclist, Afesomu Amos, whose dismembered body was discovered in Ade-Odo, Ogun State, about a week after he was reported missing.
Amos, a well-known resident of Ajara-Vetho in Badagry, reportedly disappeared on October 24, 2025, after dropping off a passenger at Erekiti.
His brother, Samuel Afesomu, said the deceased had called his wife around 7:30 p.m. that day to inform her he was heading home. Shortly after the call, his phone became unreachable, and all efforts to contact him failed.
Following an intensive investigation, police recovered Amos’s motorcycle and arrested three suspects allegedly attempting to sell it. During interrogation, one of the suspects reportedly confessed and mentioned another accomplice, prompting an expanded manhunt.
A joint operation involving detectives from the Ikeja and Badagry Divisions led to the arrest of the prime suspect in Makoko, Lagos. The suspect later took investigators to Ikogale-Obakobe, Ado-Odo, where Amos’s mutilated remains were recovered.
Samuel confirmed that the police had briefed the family about the series of arrests and the recovery of his brother’s body.
“On Thursday, we were informed that another suspect had been arrested. The following day, police called to tell us my brother’s body had been found,” he said.
The victim’s widow, who now has six children to care for, wept as she recounted her loss.
“I don’t know how to raise our children alone. I am appealing for help to continue my business and support my family,” she said.
The Lagos State Police Command stated that the investigation is still ongoing to uncover other suspects and determine the motive behind the gruesome act.
