The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has apologised to Nigerians over the ongoing electricity challenges affecting the country, assuring that the situation is temporary and efforts are being intensified to restore stable power supply.

Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday in Abuja, Adelabu expressed regret that the disruptions have caused difficulties for citizens, particularly during the current dry season, which has brought intense heat and impacted businesses, schools, and industries nationwide.

He explained that the challenges stem from factors beyond the government’s control but emphasised that authorities are working around the clock to resolve them.

“I want to apologise to Nigerians for this temporary issue that is causing hardship, especially during this dry season where there is so much heat everywhere and where businesses, schools, and industries are being affected,” Adelabu said.

The minister added that while the government did not anticipate the situation, it has intensified efforts to restore power.

“It is not our wish to find ourselves in this situation, but some factors are beyond our control. Nevertheless, we are working 24/7 to ensure we return to the level of service achieved in 2025,” he said.

“In 2025, you commended us for a job well done. In 2026, we are committed to doing even more and doing better,” Adelabu added.

He reassured Nigerians that the current power challenges would be resolved in the coming weeks.

“I can assure Nigerians that in the next few weeks, all these issues will be over,” he concluded.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
