President Bola Tinubu has approved the establishment of a new Army Battalion in Kwara State as part of efforts to tackle rising insecurity in the North-Central region.

The approval was disclosed on Wednesday by Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, following a meeting with the President at the State House.

Governor AbdulRazaq welcomed the decision, describing it as a timely intervention that will strengthen security architecture and restore confidence among residents.

“The new battalion will enhance rapid response to security threats and protect lives and property across the state,” the governor said.

He assured that the state government would provide the necessary support, including land allocation and other logistics, to ensure smooth establishment of the facility.

The development comes amid growing concerns over banditry, kidnapping, and other criminal activities in parts of Kwara and neighbouring states.

Security experts believe the deployment will complement existing efforts by the police and other agencies in maintaining peace and stability in the region.
