INIGO MARTINEZ LEAVES BARCELONA, SEALS MOVE TO AL NASSR
Spanish defender Iñigo Martinez has completed a move to Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr after parting ways with Barcelona.
The 34-year-old still had a contract with the LaLiga champions until June 2026, but both parties agreed to terminate the deal, paving the way for his transfer.
Martinez had attracted interest from Al Nassr last summer with a lucrative offer, but was persuaded to stay by Barcelona’s sporting director, Deco. This time, however, the move went through — a decision that helps Barcelona ease their wage bill.
Although his exit doesn’t bring in direct transfer income, freeing up his salary will give Barça more flexibility to register new signings, including Joan García, Wojciech Szczesny, Marcus Rashford, Gerard Martín, and Marc Bernal, ahead of the new season.
Martinez joined Barcelona in the summer of 2023 as a free agent from Athletic Club, but now begins a new chapter in Saudi Arabia with Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr.
