INEC URGES STAKEHOLDERS TO SUPPORT CREDIBLE ELECTION IN JIGAWA
INEC Seeks Stakeholder Support for Free and Fair Bye-Election in Jigawa
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has appealed to key stakeholders for their full cooperation and support in delivering a smooth and credible electoral process in Jigawa State.
This call was made by Malam Hafiz Khalid, the INEC Electoral Officer for Babura Local Government Area, during a stakeholders' meeting held at the INEC office in Babura.
Khalid noted that the meeting was part of INEC’s preparations for the upcoming bye-election in the Babura/Garki Federal Constituency, scheduled for August 16, 2025. He stressed that a peaceful and inclusive election cannot be achieved without collaboration between the commission and all relevant parties, including political actors, security agencies, and the general public.
He highlighted key areas that require joint effort, such as logistics, security, voter sensitization, and the commitment of political parties to peaceful conduct.
“This election is not just INEC’s responsibility. It’s a shared duty that demands honesty, transparency, and active participation from everyone involved,” Khalid stated.
He reassured attendees of INEC’s dedication to conducting a free, fair, and credible bye-election, adding that all necessary measures are being put in place to ensure a transparent process.
The meeting brought together political party representatives, civil society organizations, community leaders, and security officials — all united in the goal of strengthening Nigeria’s democratic process.
