INEC RELEASES TIMETABLE FOR GOMBE REPS BYE-ELECTION
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the timetable and schedule for the upcoming Gombe State House of Representatives constituency bye-election.
The election is being organised to fill the vacant seat in the Federal House of Representatives after the position became vacant.
According to the timetable, INEC has outlined key dates for political parties and candidates to complete the nomination and election process.
The commission is expected to receive the names of candidates from political parties, followed by the screening and publication of the candidates’ details before the election.
Political parties taking part in the election will also have opportunities to campaign and present their candidates to voters within the period approved by INEC.
INEC said the timetable is intended to provide political parties, candidates and voters with enough time to prepare for the election.
The commission has also urged political parties and stakeholders to follow the rules guiding the electoral process.
The Gombe bye-election will be closely watched as political parties compete for the vacant federal constituency seat.
For residents of the affected constituency, the election will provide an opportunity to choose a new representative at the National Assembly.
