‘INEC NOW WORKING FOR APC’ — DINO MELAYE RAISES ALARM

A former Kogi West Senator and chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dino Melaye, has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of partisanship, alleging that the electoral body is operating as an extension of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Melaye also faulted INEC for what he described as a misinterpretation of a court ruling, claiming the commission’s actions have undermined public trust.

In a video shared on his X account, he said the credibility of the electoral body has been eroded and called for accountability, insisting that those responsible should either be removed from office or resign voluntarily.

“We expect that the president will either sack or these people will sack themselves because INEC has misinterpreted the order of the court, they have shown partiality. They have shown that they are a department of APC, and we have lost confidence in them,” he said.

His comments come as a group of ADC leaders, led by factional Interim National Chairman David Mark and joined by figures such as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Rabiu Kwankwaso, staged a protest at INEC headquarters over the party’s delisting.
