INEC LISTS 12 CANDIDATES FOR 2027 KWARA GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION
The Independent National Electoral Commission has unveiled 12 governorship candidates and their running mates for the 2027 Kwara State governorship election.
The list was displayed at the commission’s office in Ilorin on Saturday as political parties prepare for the February 6, 2027 poll.
The All Progressives Congress is fielding the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, with Bello Mubarak Salau as his running mate.
The Peoples Democratic Party will be represented by Bolakale Kawu, who is running alongside Fawenu Corlenius, while the Social Democratic Party’s candidate is Apaokagi Salahudeen, with Kolawole Thawphic as his running mate.
Other parties in the race are the Action Democratic Party, Accord Party, Nigeria Democratic Congress, Action Peoples Party, Action Alliance, Action Peoples Movement, National Democratic Party, All Progressives Grand Alliance and New Nigeria Peoples Party.
The commission’s publication formally sets the stage for the governorship contest, with the parties expected to intensify their campaigns ahead of the election.
INEC said the publication of candidate lists is part of preparations for the 2027 elections and gives political parties, candidates and members of the public an opportunity to verify the information submitted to the commission.
