Ride-hailing company inDrive invested N1bn in the welfare of its Nigerian drivers in 2025, supporting healthcare, education, fuel costs and other welfare needs.

The company’s Country Representative, Oladimeji Timothy, said the investment covered healthcare, school fees for drivers’ children, vacations, fuel vouchers, health checks and seasonal gifts during Ramadan and Christmas.

Timothy said the company would continue investing in driver welfare as it seeks to strengthen its operations in Nigeria’s competitive ride-hailing market.

The investment comes as competition in the sector intensifies following Uber’s exit from Nigeria after 12 years of operations. Uber stopped offering rides in the country on September 2, leaving other platforms to compete for drivers and passengers.

inDrive currently operates in seven Nigerian cities and plans to expand the services available on its platform. The company recently introduced a tricycle module as part of its efforts to provide transport options suited to different cities.

Timothy said safety remained a key focus of the company’s operations. He said inDrive was strengthening driver verification, trip tracking and cooperation with local security agencies, while operating a local incident-management hub.

The company also plans to hold an annual safety summit aimed at improving safety awareness among drivers and passengers.

inDrive said it would continue investing in its drivers, expanding its services and developing partnerships as it seeks to grow its presence in Nigeria.
