INDONESIA HELICOPTER CRASH KILLS EIGHT
Eight people have died after a private helicopter crashed in a forested area of Indonesia on the island.
According to authorities, the Airbus Helicopter lost contact with air traffic control about five minutes after takeoff on Thursday in West Kalimantan province.
The victims included two crew members and six passengers. Officials said all those on board were men, including one Malaysian national.
Rescue teams later located the wreckage in a dense forest with steep terrain and confirmed there were no survivors. The bodies were transported to Pontianak.
Indonesia relies heavily on air travel because of its thousands of islands, but the country has faced several deadly aviation accidents in recent years.
The latest crash adds to ongoing concerns about aviation safety in the region.
