Tragedy in Edo as Indian Factory Manager Dies Suddenly at Work

A 47-year-old Indian national, Kalidass Arunachalam, tragically lost his life on Friday after collapsing while on duty at a factory in Ologbo, located in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area, Edo State.

Arunachalam, who worked as the Production Manager at Green Hills Agricultural Products Ltd, reportedly slumped around 11:30 a.m. within the factory premises.

Sources from the company said that upon noticing the incident, his colleagues immediately sprang into action. Among those who responded were another Indian staff member, Tushar Tukaram Phadtare, the Managing Director, Suleman Dauda, and the Chief Security Officer, Lt. Col. Thompson Udom (rtd).

He was rushed to God’s Spring Best Care Hospital in the nearby Obaretin community. Despite the medical team’s efforts, Dr Kingsley Dele, who attended to him, pronounced him dead while treatment was ongoing.

Authorities who later visited the hospital confirmed that Arunachalam had no visible injuries or signs of violence. His body was found on a hospital bed with an IV drip still attached.

His remains have been deposited in a mortuary, as the company begins the process of informing the Indian Embassy and contacting his family.

The sudden death has left both staff and community members in shock, sparking conversations about workplace health checks and emergency readiness.
