A political strategist, Baba Yusuf, has accused the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, of scheming to remove Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State and replace him with a loyalist.

Yusuf made the allegation on Friday during an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time.

He stated: “Wike has maintained a defiant stance despite several interventions by President Bola Tinubu, even when in his favour.

“It reached a point where the President had to take the tough decision to suspend the democratic institution in Rivers for six months. Clearly, this is a fight to the finish.

“Looking at the current situation, we’ve seen some of them shift positions recently, even making U-turns.

“According to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended), Chapter Six, Section 191, the Speaker is to take over if both the governor and deputy are impeached.

“Wike intends to remove Fubara and install his ally through impeachment. Should this happen, Martin Amaewhule, the Speaker of the Rivers State Assembly, would become acting governor, as outlined in the constitution.”

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
