The Imo State Police Command has dislodged a suspected IPOB camp in Njaba Local Government Area, recovering a cache of arms and ammunition in the process.

According to the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Henry Okoye, the operation was carried out in collaboration with other security agencies after credible intelligence and confessions from arrested suspects, identified as Uchenna Opara and Ozioma Ihedoro.

The raid took place at Ubaa, Umuaka, Njaba axis, where the suspects reportedly opened fire on security operatives. However, they were overpowered by the superior firepower of the forces and fled into nearby bushes with gunshot injuries.

A thorough search of the camp led to the recovery of:

1 AK-47 rifle with three magazines

40 rounds of live AK-47 ammunition

60 rounds of live GPMG ammunition

2 pump-action guns

582 live cartridges

1 POS machine

The police say investigations are ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, urged residents to remain vigilant and report anyone with gunshot injuries or suspicious behavior to the nearest police station. He assured the public of the Command’s commitment to maintaining peace and security across the state.

For timely reports, the Command also released its emergency line: 0803 477 3600.
