"I’M HIV NEGATIVE!" – DAYO AMUSA CLEARS THE AIR, VOWS LEGAL ACTION
Popular Nigerian actress Dayo Amusa has addressed and dismissed recent claims suggesting she is HIV positive.
A viral video shared by content creator Olaoluwa Segun listed Amusa among five Nigerian actors allegedly living with HIV. In response, the actress took to her Instagram page to clarify the situation, stating that the claim was based on a six-year-old post she made in 2019.
Amusa emphasized that her original post was meant to raise awareness about HIV and encourage people to get tested and seek treatment if necessary. She reiterated that she is HIV negative and condemned the misuse of her post.
“I want to address a video that has been circulating on social media in the past 24 hours. It was posted by someone I don’t even know, and people have been tagging me in it,” she said. “The video referenced a 2019 post where I talked about my HIV status— which was negative. That post was created to educate the public on the importance of knowing your status and seeking help if needed. Being HIV positive is not the end of the world.”
Expressing her outrage, Amusa called the claim reckless and false, stating that she will pursue legal action.
“It’s shocking that someone took that post out of context and grouped me with others as being HIV positive, without any proper investigation. The video has drawn attention and engagement, but I will not let this go unpunished. I will make you a scapegoat,” she added.
