IHEANACHO SEALS 2-1 VICTORY WITH STOPPAGE-TIME GOAL IN FIRST CELTIC APPEARANCE
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has expressed his delight after Kelechi Iheanacho scored a decisive goal on his debut for the club.
Iheanacho came off the bench with 20 minutes left and netted a stoppage-time winner to hand the Hoops a 2-1 victory over Kilmarnock at Rugby Park on Sunday.
The Nigerian forward converted from the penalty spot deep into injury time, sealing the win for the Scottish Premiership champions.
Rodgers believes the late goal will serve as a major confidence boost for the striker as he settles into the team.
“I’m delighted for Kels (Kelechi Iheanacho) because he’s a player who thrives on confidence and the backing of his coaches and supporters. That goal will mean a lot to him,” Rodgers said via the club’s official website.
The 28-year-old recently joined Celtic Park on a free transfer earlier this month.
