IGP DEPLOYS SPECIAL TACTICAL TEAMS TO BENUE AHEAD OF 2026 EASTER CELEBRATIONS
The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has ordered the deployment of 14 units drawn from 16 Police Mobile Force (PMF) squadrons, along with 250 personnel from specialised tactical teams, to reinforce the Benue State Police Command ahead of the 2026 Easter celebrations.
This information was disclosed in a statement by the spokesperson of the Benue State Police Command, DSP Udeme Edet.
Edet said the strategic deployment is aimed at strengthening ongoing security operations and ensuring the protection of lives and property across the state during the festive period. The personnel have been integrated with the state command’s tactical teams and other security agencies, with a focus on dominating hinterlands, vulnerable communities, and key public spaces.
She added that the Commissioner of Police, Benue State Command, CP Ifeanyi Emenari, commended the IGP for the timely reinforcement and reassured residents of the command’s readiness to maintain law and order before, during, and after the Easter festivities.
CP Emenari also urged citizens to remain vigilant, law-abiding, and cooperative with security agencies by providing timely and useful information.
