IG ORDERS MOBILE POLICE TO INTENSIFY FIGHT AGAINST BANDITS, INSURGENTS

The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has directed personnel of the Nigeria Police Force Mobile Force to strengthen their operations against banditry, insurgency and other violent crimes threatening communities across the country.

The directive was issued as the police leadership renewed its emphasis on improving the operational capacity of the Mobile Police Force and deploying its personnel more effectively to areas facing serious security challenges.

Egbetokun stressed the importance of maintaining a well-trained and disciplined police force capable of responding swiftly to emerging threats. He also urged officers to remain professional and demonstrate courage while carrying out their duties.

The police leadership said the Mobile Police Force would continue to play a significant role in supporting ongoing security operations, particularly in locations affected by bandit attacks, insurgency and other forms of violent criminality.

The IGP also emphasised the need for personnel to work closely with other security agencies, noting that effective collaboration is essential to confronting increasingly complex security threats.

He called on officers to remain committed to protecting lives and property while ensuring that their operations were guided by professionalism and respect for the law.

The directive comes amid continued security concerns in several parts of Nigeria, where bandits, insurgents, kidnappers and other criminal groups have continued to pose threats to residents and communities.

The police have consequently been strengthening tactical deployments and intelligence-led operations aimed at identifying criminal networks, disrupting their activities and preventing attacks.

Egbetokun further urged commanders to ensure that personnel under their supervision remained prepared for rapid deployment whenever security emergencies arise.

The Inspector-General maintained that the police would continue to review its operational strategies in response to changing security threats across the country.

He also encouraged members of the public to cooperate with security agencies by providing credible information that could assist in preventing attacks and apprehending criminal elements.

The renewed focus on the Mobile Police Force is expected to complement existing security operations by increasing the presence of specially trained personnel in areas requiring additional policing support.

The police leadership said the ultimate objective was to strengthen national security, restore public confidence and create a safer environment for Nigerians.
