IFEANYI ODII UNVEILS DEVELOPMENT PLANS FOR EBONYI AHEAD OF 2027
The Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in Ebonyi State, Dr Ifeanyi Odii, has outlined plans to transform the state’s economy and reposition key sectors if elected in the February 6, 2027 governorship election. Odii said his proposed administration would focus on healthcare, education and agriculture while pursuing policies aimed at creating jobs, reducing poverty and improving living conditions for residents.
Speaking to party supporters at a meeting in Abakaliki on Thursday, Odii said governance should be centred on the interests of the people rather than a small group of individuals. He promised to run an inclusive administration and said his campaign would focus on policies and issues affecting residents. He also urged his supporters to avoid violence, intimidation and harassment during the campaign, stressing that no political ambition was worth the life of any citizen.
The PDP candidate said Ebonyi was at a defining point in its development and called for what he described as a collective effort to move the state away from underdevelopment. He accused the current ruling class of using hunger and poverty to influence young people and push some of them into political thuggery and electoral malpractice. Odii said his administration would instead treat young people with dignity and provide opportunities that would enable them to build sustainable futures.
According to Odii, his development blueprint, titled “A Promise of Possibility,” would seek to transform Ebonyi into an industrialised, innovation-driven and investment-ready economy. He said the plan would include accountable governance, improved infrastructure, quality education, universal healthcare, productive agriculture, stronger businesses and social justice. He added that the proposed administration would work towards creating shared prosperity and expanding opportunities for people across communities in the state.
Odii also said his campaign would remain focused on the message of change, growth, progress and prosperity while respecting the rules governing the electoral process. He called on supporters to remain peaceful as campaign activities begin, saying the objective was to present an alternative development programme to Ebonyi voters. The PDP candidate said he was confident that the people could work together to achieve what he described as a new direction for the state.
