The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) says it will arraign former Kaduna State governor Nasir Ahmad El‑Rufai before a Federal High Court sitting in Kaduna today, Tuesday, March 24, 2026.

In a statement released by its spokesman, the anti‑graft agency said El‑Rufai will be jointly charged with a co‑defendant, Joel Adoga, in suit number FHC/KD/73/2026 at the Federal High Court, Kaduna Judicial Division.

The ICPC said the charges in the federal case include alleged conversion and possession of public property and money laundering.

According to the commission, a separate set of charges has also been filed against El‑Rufai and Amadu Sule before a Kaduna State High Court. Those state charges are said to cover offences ranging from abuse of office and fraud to intent to commit fraud and conferring undue advantage.

The anti‑graft agency said both matters were filed on March 18 and that the date for the state court arraignment will be communicated in due course.

El‑Rufai was earlier detained following questioning by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). After being granted bail by the EFCC, he was subsequently taken into ICPC custody in relation to the ongoing investigations.

Supporters and political figures have continued to watch the case closely, as proceedings begin in Kaduna today.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
