ICPC RECOVERS N5.8BN CASH IN SIX MONTHS

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has recovered N5.8 billion in cash within the first six months of 2026 as part of its intensified anti-corruption drive.

The Chairman of the ICPC, Prof. Bolaji Owasanoye, disclosed this during a mid-year performance review, highlighting successful operations targeting public officials and contractors involved in graft. “Our focus on asset recovery is yielding results and sending a strong message against corruption,” Owasanoye said.

The recovered funds are being channelled back into government coffers, with some earmarked for developmental projects. The commission also reported significant progress in ongoing prosecutions and public sensitisation campaigns.

Stakeholders have commended the ICPC for its proactive approach, calling for sustained efforts to curb systemic corruption.

The development is seen as a boost to the government’s transparency and accountability agenda.
