Afrobeats superstar Davido has revealed his desire to explore the world of acting, saying he would love to play the role of a taxi driver in a movie.

The multiple award-winning singer made the revelation during a panel session at the Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) titled “Rhythms of the Continent: The Afrobeat Movement and Its Impacts on African Film.”

Speaking about his plans to delve into film production, Davido expressed excitement about collaborating with African filmmakers and bringing authentic African stories to the big screen.

“My brother was saying that he was going to give me a role. I told him I wanted to do a role that would be shot by a taxi driver or something — like something out of the blue. He has to figure that out. So I definitely want to get involved in movies,” he said.

The “Unavailable” crooner cited international entertainers like 50 Cent, who have successfully transitioned from music to acting and film production, as his source of inspiration.

Davido added that he hopes to produce stories that reflect true African experiences, noting that he has drawn creative influence from film projects like “Uncorked.”

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
