Nigerian singer Deborah Oluwaseyi Joshua, popularly known as Seyi Shay, has sparked widespread conversation after revealing that she was once a member of the Illuminati.

The “Right Now” and “Yolo Yolo” crooner made the disclosure during an appearance on the OffAir Podcast with Gbemi and Toolz. A short video from the interview surfaced online on Thursday, immediately trending across social media platforms.

According to Seyi Shay, her membership marked a defining phase in her career and was something insiders in the music and entertainment space already knew about.

She explained:

“That’s when I was in the Illuminati. That’s when I joined the Illuminati. That’s when it was official. Do you understand? I was an Illuminati member.”

Seyi Shay added that while fans might not know the full details, industry insiders are usually aware of those linked to such groups.

“People know who they are because… maybe if they watch this, they probably won’t remember, you know, because people that do messed up stuff always forget. It’s not the fans, guys. It’s the people in the industry. It is not the fans. It is the people that work with me, work with her, work with this one, work with that one.”

The revelation has ignited fresh debate about the alleged influence of secret societies in the Nigerian entertainment industry, with fans split between disbelief and curiosity.

Seyi Shay, who rose to fame with hits like “Irawo” and “Gimme Love,” has long been one of Nigeria’s most recognizable female pop stars. Her confession now adds a dramatic layer to her public persona and reignites conversations about the pressures and mysteries behind the glitz of showbiz.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
