A dismissed Catholic nun, Rev. Sr. Anastasia Kinse, has revealed that she possesses evidence showing she was sexually harassed by a priest, though she has chosen not to make it public.

Speaking on Monday during an interview on Prime Time, a programme aired on Arise Television, Sr. Anastasia, who served under the Auchi Catholic Diocese in Edo State, alleged that she was dismissed from her position at Veritas University, Abuja, after exposing cases of sexual misconduct within the Church.

“I find it funny when people ask for evidence. In today’s world, coming out to mention names and talk doesn’t make much sense,” she said.

“It’s not that the evidence of the priest’s harassment doesn’t exist—it does—but I cannot release it publicly. I have a video and an audio recording showing where the Veritas Head of Department harassed me.”

She recounted joining the Congregation of Mother of Perpetual Help of the Archangels Sisters in 2015 and facing several challenges during her time there. According to her, she often reported her experiences to her Superior-General and Bishop but was labelled as “always complaining.”

Sr. Anastasia explained that one of her early reports involved a priest who constantly shouted at her in the office. In another incident, she alleged that a priest she lived near once tried to touch her inappropriately when she entered his room, but her superior advised her to ignore it.

“In 2016, a priest asked me to accompany him in his car to his parish for a week, which I refused. Another priest once put his belt around my waist, claiming he wanted to measure me for clothes he intended to buy. That incident broke me and caused serious trauma, which they later described as madness,” she recounted.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
