Veteran Nollywood actress, Moji Afolayan, has finally broken her silence on why she vanished from the movie scene for over a decade—a disappearance that left many fans worried and curious.

In a candid interview on Oyinmomo TV, the 57-year-old actress revealed she was blacklisted by film marketers simply because she refused to sleep with them to secure roles.

“Before now, marketers used to give producers money to fund movies. But because I refused their sexual advances, they all agreed among themselves not to call me for work,” Moji said.

She explained that many married actresses were getting roles by exchanging sex for opportunities, often taking their husbands along, who would wait outside while they went in to meet marketers.

“I never did that. I couldn’t trade my body for films. It’s my principle. Many of them will watch this interview, but I don’t mind. I know what I stand for. Even though it affected my income and fame, I cherish my body more than anything else. My husband knows this too,” she added.

Moji, who is married to fellow actor Ojopagogo, stressed that while she paid a price for her stance back then, she now enjoys her peace of mind and dignity.

She also noted that the rise of YouTube and social media has turned the tables. “Now, we don’t need marketers anymore. We push our movies online directly to our audience.”

Her revelation has sparked conversations about the dark side of Nollywood and how integrity still pays in the long run, despite the painful sacrifices it often demands.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
