“I LOST CONTROL” — ASHERKINE EXPLAINS WHY HE QUIT BINGE-EATING CONTENT

Nigerian content creator Akinyemi Oluwaseun Omotayo, popularly known as Asherkine, has revealed why he decided to stop making binge-eating videos, despite the fame they brought him.

The social media star became known for his viral clips showing him consuming massive portions of food in one sitting — a trend that quickly earned him a loyal following online.

However, in a candid post shared on X (formerly Twitter), Asherkine disclosed that the content began to take a toll on both his physical and mental health.

“I never answered why I paused making this type of food content. I genuinely enjoyed clearing up over five different meals regularly until my body told me,” he wrote.

According to him, even though he maintained an active lifestyle at the time, he gradually lost control over moderation, turning binge-eating into a habit beyond filming.

“Mindless binge eating became the order of the day, even when I wasn’t creating content. I wouldn’t stop eating until I started feeling abdominal discomfort,” he confessed.

Asherkine said the constant overeating led to several health problems, including heart palpitations, excess weight gain, irregular sleep patterns, fatigue, and high blood pressure.

“Despite being full, I always wanted to keep eating. Gluttony had made its way,” he wrote. “The mental battle to beat gluttony is probably the hardest thing to deal with.”

Reflecting on his experience two years later, the creator admitted that the struggle with compulsive eating remains ongoing but said he’s grateful for the progress he has made.

“I can’t express how disrespectful gluttony is and how much power it holds, but it’s mad underrated,” he added. “If you struggle with compulsive eating disorder, shout out to you. Don’t underplay it.”

While Asherkine confirmed that he will continue to make food-related content, he emphasized that he would never return to extreme eating.

“I’ll still make food content,” he concluded, “but definitely not in such volume.”

His honest revelation has since sparked an important conversation online about mental health, food addiction, and the hidden dangers behind viral eating challenges.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
