“I CONVERTED FROM CHRISTIANITY TO ISLAM IN SEARCH OF TRUTH” – BURNA BOY OPENS UP ABOUT HIS ONGOING SPIRITUAL JOURNEY
Grammy-winning Nigerian artist Burna Boy has opened up about his long and complex journey with faith, revealing that he once converted from Christianity to Islam in his quest for spiritual truth — but still feels unfulfilled.
In a recent interview with streamer Playboymax, the “City Boys” crooner spoke candidly about his ongoing search for enlightenment, admitting that despite exploring different religions, he is still seeking answers.
“Growing up, I was a Christian and then I converted to Islam,” Burna Boy said.
“It’s like I’ve studied it all, but I’m still out here trying to find out what is really going on, you know? The more I research, the more confused I get.”
The singer, known for his deep introspection and social commentary in music, added that his spiritual exploration is ongoing, as he continues to question the meaning of existence and the truth about faith.
Burna Boy’s revelation has sparked widespread reactions online, with fans praising his honesty and openness about such a deeply personal matter. Others, however, expressed concern over his statement about confusion, urging him to find peace in whichever spiritual path brings him fulfillment.
This is not the first time a Nigerian artist has publicly discussed a shift in faith. Earlier this year, singer 9ice revealed that he converted to the Ifa religion after suffering a severe “spiritual attack” that left him bedridden for six months.
According to 9ice, the experience pushed him to reconnect with traditional spirituality, a move he says he wishes he had made earlier in life.
For Burna Boy, however, the journey continues — one marked by questions, curiosity, and a relentless search for truth beyond religious labels.
