“I AVOID DEEP SPIRITUAL ROLES WHEN I’M NOT READY” — ACTRESS BAMBAM OPENS UP
Nollywood actress Bamike Adenibuyan, popularly known as BamBam, has revealed why she avoids taking on deeply spiritual or diabolical movie roles. Speaking in an interview with Saturday Beats, the mother of two explained that some roles require a high level of emotional and spiritual readiness—something she doesn’t take lightly.
BamBam noted that she is a “very sensitive actor” and only accepts roles she feels mentally and spiritually prepared for. According to her, acting demands full focus, emotional stability, and immersion, and certain storylines can affect an actor’s mind or spirit if they are not grounded enough for the experience.
“I am a very sensitive actor,” she said. “I try to avoid deeply spiritual films, especially when I’m not sure or spiritually ready for them.”
Speaking about her role as Chioma in Love in Every Word, the actress shared insight into her process. She explained that she takes time to understand the inner life and motivations of her characters before adding her personal touch to make the performance believable.
“When you get a script, you step into the role of that character,” she said. “I got to understand Chioma’s personality and added a part of me to make her real. Acting is about understanding where your character is coming from so you can react as they would.”
Since leaving the Big Brother Naija reality show, BamBam has continued to build her acting portfolio. She has featured in productions such as Inspector K, Backup Wife, and Foreigner’s God, where she starred alongside her husband, Teddy A.
Her recent comments highlight the emotional and psychological depth behind acting and why some roles require careful preparation before stepping into character.
