HUMAN TRAFFICKING: POLICE RESCUE THREE GIRLS IN LAGOS METRO PLUS
Police in Lagos have rescued three girls after intercepting a commercial motorcycle during a routine patrol in Badagry.
Force Public Relations Officer Ani Iniedu disclosed this in a statement on Friday, saying officers stopped the motorcycle along Owode Apa Road.
According to him, questioning revealed that the girls were suspected victims of human trafficking.
They were taken to safety and debriefed, while officers continued efforts to identify and arrest those allegedly responsible.
The State Criminal Investigation Department in Panti, Yaba, is handling the case.
In a separate operation in Abuja, police and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force arrested six suspects during a raid on a suspected criminal hideout in Kado Bimko.
Iniedu said officers recovered 11 suspected stolen phones, a laptop, weapons and intoxicating substances. He added that the principal suspect was allegedly linked to a robbery and killing in June 2026.
The police also announced the arrest of a 52-year-old man in Benin City, Edo State, over suspected gunrunning.
According to the statement, officers acted on intelligence and a lawfully intercepted telephone conversation. Investigations into all three cases are ongoing.
