If you’re planning to build or renovate this season, be prepared: cement prices across Nigeria are still fluctuating sharply depending on where you buy and which brand you choose. As of mid-2025, here’s what you should know about the current costs of popular cement brands like Dangote, BUA, and Lafarge (commonly called “Elephant Cement”).

🔍 Current Market Prices

➡️ Dangote Cement

Retail price: ₦9,000–₦10,500 per 50 kg bag in most cities.

Depot/bulk: Around ₦8,000–₦9,000 per bag.

➡️ BUA Cement

Retail price: ₦8,550–₦11,000, varying by location.

Depot/bulk: ₦5,500–₦7,900, making it one of the cheaper bulk options.

➡️ Lafarge / Elephant Cement

Retail price: ₦9,100–₦10,500 generally, but can hit ₦12,000–₦14,000 in higher-cost areas.

Elephant Supaset (premium): About ₦11,000 with certain dealers.

🚚 Why The Price Differences?

Several factors continue to drive the variation in cement prices:

Location & logistics:
Transport costs from depots to final retail points cause big price swings, especially in rural or remote areas.

Exchange rate issues:
Many raw materials for cement are imported. Fluctuations in forex rates mean production costs keep changing.

Market dynamics:
Even when manufacturers try to hold prices steady (such as on large government contracts), retailers and distributors often add significant markups.

Brand perception:
Products like Lafarge’s “Elephant” Cement and Supaset are marketed as premium, construction-grade options—so they naturally attract a higher price.

If you’re budgeting for a project, it’s wise to shop around and compare prices from different dealers or consider buying directly from depots if possible. With Nigeria’s economic shifts, staying informed could save you thousands per truckloa
