HON. MAKINDE JAMAL URGES OSUN RESIDENTS TO REGISTER TO VOTE AHEAD OF AUGUST 18 INEC EXERCISE
Get Ready to Register: Hon. Makinde Jamal Encourages Osun Citizens to Take Part in Voter Registration
As the countdown begins for the upcoming voter registration exercise, Hon. Makinde Jamal, Senior Special Assistant to Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, is calling on all eligible citizens to show up, register, and make their voices count.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially announced that voter registration will begin on August 18, 2025, across the country. In response, Hon. Makinde is urging residents of Osun State not to sit this one out.
“Registering to vote is not just a right, it’s a responsibility,” Makinde emphasized. “This is a chance for every Nigerian to be heard, to help shape our future, and to ensure their voice matters in the decisions that affect their lives.”
Makinde is leading efforts to encourage civic participation, stressing that a strong voter turnout begins with proper registration. He believes that every vote counts and that a high registration rate is essential for building a more inclusive and fair democratic process.
According to Makinde, this is more than just a routine exercise — it's a crucial step toward strengthening Nigeria's democracy. “If we want elections that truly reflect the will of the people, we need to start by getting more people registered and ready to vote,” he said.
The Osun State government, under the leadership of Governor Ademola Adeleke, is committed to supporting initiatives that empower citizens and promote democratic engagement.
So, if you're 18 or older and haven’t registered yet, mark your calendar for August 18. Visit your nearest registration center, bring the required documents, and take part in shaping the future of our state and country.
