HEAVY RAIN DAMAGES ABUJA BUS TERMINAL, LEAVES COMMUTERS STRANDED
A heavy downpour on Tuesday caused major traffic disruption along the Nyanya–Keffi Expressway in Abuja, following significant damage to the Kugbo Bus Terminal.
Sections of the recently built terminal were torn apart by the storm, with parts of the roofing ripped off and debris scattered onto the roadway, obstructing the smooth movement of vehicles.
The incident triggered severe congestion along the busy route linking the Federal Capital Territory to neighbouring Nasarawa State, leaving commuters stranded for hours.
Eyewitnesses said several vehicles were struck by falling debris, while residents and passersby worked together to clear the road and ease the gridlock.
The stretch near the Abuja Computerised Vehicle Inspection Centre, operated by the Directorate of Road Traffic Services (VIO), was reported to be the hardest hit.
As of Tuesday evening, traffic remained slow-moving, with motorists advised to exercise caution when approaching the affected area.
On the recruitment process, the Commissioner warned applicants against engaging in fraudulent practices, stressing that the exercise is strictly merit-based and free of any financial inducements.
He urged candidates to avoid any attempts to compromise the process.
Speaking in line with the momentum of World Health Day 2026, Onojaeme also encouraged residents to adopt proactive health habits, including regular medical check-ups, emphasizing that early detection is crucial for better health outcomes.
