Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has mourned the late senator, Barinada Mpigi, describing him as a man who lived a fulfilled life and made lasting contributions to society.

Fubara spoke during a service of songs held at the Missionary Anglican Church in Koroma, Tai Local Government Area of Rivers State.

According to a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Onwuka Nzeshi, the governor described the late lawmaker as “a fighter” whose impact would endure beyond his lifetime.

“He lived a great life. He was a fighter whose time had come and gone. We will remember him for the great works he did,” Fubara said.

Reflecting on the inevitability of death, the governor noted that no one has control over the length of their life, adding that death remains the ultimate end for all.

He urged the bereaved family to remain strong, stressing that only God can provide true comfort and fill the void left by the late senator.

Fubara also acknowledged the presence of National Assembly members and community residents who attended the service, praying for their safe return.

The late Barinada Mpigi represented Rivers South-East Senatorial District at the National Assembly until his death.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
