“HE KILLED HIS OWN BLOOD”: POLICEMAN’S SON BEHEADS 15-YEAR-OLD BROTHER IN ONDO
Akure, Ondo State — A tragic incident has rocked Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State, where a senior police officer’s 26-year-old son, identified as Daniel, allegedly beheaded his 15-year-old brother, Emmanuel, in what is suspected to be a ritual killing.
The shocking act triggered outrage in the local community, leading to Daniel being lynched by angry youths shortly after the crime was discovered.
The entire agrarian town has been thrown into mourning and disbelief following the deaths of the two sons of the respected police officer.
According to an eyewitness, Roland Akinkunmi, the incident occurred on Monday evening near the Origbara River, a remote part of the community. He recounted that Daniel had reportedly lured his younger brother to the riverbank before carrying out the gruesome act.
Akinkunmi said a local resident, attempting to cross the river, raised the alarm upon witnessing Daniel trying to conceal Emmanuel’s severed head in a black bag.
“I was near the palace when I heard shouts from the direction of Origbara,” Akinkunmi told reporters. “When I arrived at the scene, I saw Daniel holding a human head, but I didn’t realize it was his brother’s at first. Everyone is in shock—how could a person do this to his own sibling?”
He added that the brothers had allegedly quarreled earlier, but the motivation behind the killing remains unclear.
“This community doesn’t tolerate human rituals,” Akinkunmi emphasized. “Anyone who sheds blood for ritual purposes is usually exposed.”
Spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, SP Ayanlade Olayinka, confirmed the incident, stating that Commissioner of Police Adebowale Lawal has ordered a full investigation.
“The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for thorough and discreet inquiry,” Olayinka said, assuring the public that “no stone will be left unturned.”
