England captain Harry Kane kicked off his new Bundesliga season in style, scoring a sensational hat-trick as Bayern Munich thrashed RB Leipzig 6-0 in their league opener on Saturday.

Bayern took the lead in the 27th minute when Michael Olise fired a powerful strike into the far corner after pouncing on a loose ball. Five minutes later, Serge Gnabry created another moment of magic, setting up new signing Luis Diaz, who smashed in his debut Bundesliga goal off the underside of the bar.

Olise then doubled his tally just before halftime, this time finishing off a brilliant feint and assist from Gnabry, leaving Leipzig’s defence in disarray.

The second half belonged to Harry Kane. After a quiet opening 45 minutes, the England striker sprang to life in the 64th minute, calmly finishing off a counter-attack to make it 4-0. Leipzig thought they had pulled one back through substitute Antonio Nusa, but the effort was ruled out due to an infringement in the build-up.

Kane then showcased his clinical edge, curling in a superb strike from the edge of the box to extend Bayern’s lead before sealing his hat-trick in the 77th minute, slotting home unmarked as Leipzig’s defence crumbled.

The resounding victory not only gave Bayern the perfect start to their title defence, but also sent a clear message to their Bundesliga rivals: with Harry Kane leading the line, the champions are more dangerous than ever.
