“HARRY KANE: CHAMPIONS LEAGUE AND WORLD CUP KEY TO BALLON D’OR CHANCES”
Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane has admitted that winning the Ballon d’Or may depend on lifting major trophies like the Champions League or the World Cup.
Speaking in an interview with the UK Mirror, the England captain said the same applies to Manchester City star Erling Haaland.
“I could score 100 goals this season, but if I don’t win the Champions League or the World Cup, you’re probably not going to win the Ballon d’Or.
It’s the same with Haaland, with any player. You have to be winning those major trophies.”
Kane, 30, has started the season in stunning form, netting 13 Bundesliga goals and five in the Champions League so far. His strong performances have already put him among the favourites for next year’s award.
The England captain also highlighted his national team’s success, as the Three Lions qualified for the 2026 World Cup, winning all their qualifying matches without conceding a single goal.
Kane’s comments reflect the reality that individual brilliance often goes hand-in-hand with team success when it comes to winning football’s most prestigious individual award.
