HANNOVER 96 CONSIDER MOVE FOR NIGERIAN STRIKER VICTOR BONIFACE

German second-tier club Hannover 96 are reportedly considering a move for Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface as they look to strengthen their attacking options before the transfer window closes.

According to German outlet Neupresse, the 25-year-old Nigerian is among several forwards being considered by Hannover, who are exploring options to reinforce their squad.

Boniface returned to Bayer Leverkusen this summer after spending the 2025/26 campaign on loan at Werder Bremen. His spell in Bremen was disrupted by injury, and he finished the season without scoring in 11 appearances.

The striker's recent form, however, has improved significantly during pre-season. He scored twice within four minutes during Leverkusen's 7-0 victory over Sportfreunde Baumberg before contributing to another 3-1 win against Kickers Offenbach.

Boniface also made an impact against Newcastle United on August 15, coming off the bench to score an 82nd-minute winner that secured a 2-1 victory for Leverkusen.

The performances appear to have strengthened his position at Leverkusen, where he remains under contract until June 2029. Sporting director Simon Rolfes has also acknowledged the Nigerian's progress, although he noted that the forward is still working towards regaining full 90-minute fitness.

Boniface is reportedly targeting at least 20 goals during the 2026/27 season as he looks to put his injury problems behind him and rediscover the form that previously made him one of Europe's most exciting young strikers.

However, competition for places at Leverkusen remains strong, with Patrik Schick and Christian Kofane also competing for attacking roles.

A potential move to Hannover 96 could offer Boniface another opportunity to play regularly in German football, but it remains unclear whether Leverkusen would be willing to part with the Nigerian before the transfer window closes.

For now, Boniface remains a Bayer Leverkusen player, with Hannover's reported interest adding another layer to the transfer speculation surrounding the Super Eagles forward.
