Lagos State Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat has backed a N2bn endowment fund established by the Knights of St. Mulumba Nigeria, Lagos Metro Council, to support vulnerable Nigerians.

Hamzat spoke at the unveiling of the endowment fund and charity initiative at St. Leo Catholic Church, Ikeja, Lagos.

He described the initiative as a way of creating a sustainable source of funding for charitable activities and encouraged stronger collaboration between government and religious organisations.

According to the deputy governor, the fund is expected to generate income that can be used to support vulnerable people and finance projects such as education and community infrastructure.

He said the Lagos State Government would engage with the Knights on the initiative and support programmes aimed at improving the welfare and prospects of residents.

The Archbishop of the Metropolitan See of Lagos, Most Rev. Adewale Martins, also described the endowment fund as a timely initiative that could strengthen the organisation’s humanitarian activities.

The initiative is themed “Investing Today, Sustaining the Mission, Empowering Generations.”
