GUNMEN SHOOT NOUN BURSAR DEAD IN ZAMFARA STATE
The Bursar of the National Open University of Nigeria, Nasiru Gusau Marafa, has reportedly been shot dead in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital.
The university announced his death in an official statement signed by its Registrar and Secretary to Council, Oladipo Ajayi, on Sunday.
According to the institution, Marafa was reportedly shot while returning from Gusau, although details surrounding the incident remain unclear.
The university described the death as sudden and untimely, expressing sadness over the loss of the senior administrator.
Marafa was appointed Bursar of NOUN in September 2022 and was described by the university as a dedicated and committed staff member who served the institution in various positions of responsibility.
The university’s management, Governing Council, Senate, staff and students mourned his death and extended condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.
The institution also prayed for the repose of his soul and strength for his family and the entire NOUN community to bear the loss.
Efforts to obtain a reaction from the Zamfara State Police Command were unsuccessful, as the Police Public Relations Officer, Abubakar Yazid, was reportedly unreachable when they contacted him .
