Suspected Boko Haram insurgents have attacked Gaya community in Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State, killing a police inspector and seven civilians.

The attack occurred on Monday night when the assailants reportedly invaded the community and attacked two houses, which were also set ablaze.

The Chairman of Hong Local Government Area, Aliyu Sa’ad, confirmed the incident, saying eight people were killed during the attack.

The Adamawa State Police Command also confirmed the incident and said security agencies had been deployed to the area.

Following the attack, military personnel, police officers, hunters, and other security operatives were mobilised to search for the attackers and restore security in the community.

The incident has raised fresh concerns over insecurity in communities around the Hong area, particularly amid the continued threat posed by insurgent groups in parts of northeastern Nigeria.

Security experts have continued to call for stronger intelligence gathering, improved coordination among security agencies, and better protection for vulnerable communities.

They also stressed the importance of early warning systems and stronger cooperation between residents and security authorities to help prevent attacks.

Authorities are expected to continue investigations and security operations aimed at identifying those responsible for the attack and preventing further violence in the affected communities.
