A community in Delta State is reeling in fear after suspected kidnappers struck again, killing a man and injuring his son in Ovwor-Olomu, Ughelli South Local Government Area.

The tragic incident happened on Tuesday. According to eyewitnesses, the attackers targeted the man’s family and shot him dead when he tried to escape. His son was also shot but fortunately survived and is currently receiving treatment at a nearby hospital.

Residents say this is the latest in a disturbing wave of kidnappings that have hit Ovwor-Olomu in recent weeks, with over seven reported cases in less than a month. Those living on the outskirts of the community are said to be the most frequent targets.

A local resident lamented, “People no longer feel safe here. We need urgent help from security agencies before this gets even worse.”

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Delta State Police Command, SP Bright Edafe, assured that the police are actively trailing the suspects and committed to bringing them to justice.

Meanwhile, the community continues to live under the shadow of fear, hoping for swift action to restore safety and stop the rising tide of violent crime.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
