GUNMEN DISRUPT APC CONGRESS IN DELTA, ATTACK LAWMAKER IBORI-SUENU
Violence erupted on Saturday at the All Progressives Congress (APC) congress in Ethiope-West Local Government Area, Delta State, as gunmen attacked Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, the lawmaker representing Ethiope Federal Constituency and daughter of former governor James Ibori.
The incident occurred at Ovade, the designated venue for the congress, leaving several people injured.
Sources said the violence broke out shortly after the lawmaker arrived at the venue. She and her supporters were reportedly confronted by armed assailants wielding guns and other dangerous weapons, who attempted to prevent her from gaining entry into the congress. The situation was eventually contained by her security personnel.
Following the attack, Ibori-Suenu called on APC supporters across the state to remain calm.
